I held open a door for a random dude carrying a bunch of heavy items. Not only did he give me a looked-me-in-the-eyes thank you, which is often rare in itself, but then he also sincerely complimented my new shirt.
Nice to see someone appreciate such a simplistic, and easy, gesture.
I usually want to kick people who can’t at least shoot me a smile or a head nod when I hold a door open.
The beard as of February 4th, 2014.
Not much has changed in a month, though I guess it’s a little thicker and a bit longer now, and definitely a little healthier because I’ve been using beard oil. Yes, beard oil is a thing that exists and it’s great!
I keep getting so many comments, mostly of wonder (e.g. why are you doing it) or people who think they’re funny with Duck Dynasty or ZZ Top jokes. Others think that I’m just simply hopping on the beard bandwagon, not realizing that I’ve had facial hair in one form or another for roughly 15 years. Then there are the people who are fully supportive of me growing it out, wishing they can grow one as well, but don’t, for whatever reasons.
Encouragement and questions are great, but in a nutshell, I’m just simply doing this for me. It’s a test of my patience if nothing else. I’m so very anxious to see what shape it takes and how long it will get as it grows (untrimmed, I used to groom it regularly) for a year, but I’m forced to wait and see. 🙂
Day one of the #yeard. I’ve already got quite the head start and a decent beard already, but I’ve decided to take it a step further and not touch it in any way for the entirety of 2014, or until a desired max length is reached (though, I’m not sure what the desired length is just yet), whichever comes first.
Anyone care to join me in this journey and grow a yeard of your own?
I created a collection with HTC Share and I want to share it with you. Click the link below to check it out.
